SELLERS AND BUYERS · UPDATED OCTOBER 6, 2026
Prohibited Items and Electronics Standards
Marketplace-wide prohibited items
Do not list stolen, counterfeit, recalled, illegal, deceptively described, or unsafe products; products whose sale or shipment is restricted by law; items that infringe intellectual-property rights; or items that cannot be delivered lawfully to the buyer's location. Vendiaro may pause a listing or seller account while it investigates a credible safety, ownership, counterfeit, or law-enforcement report. Staff make final marketplace decisions; automated tools only flag risk.
Phones, tablets, computers, and smart devices
- Activation locks and account locks: Prohibit devices still protected by Apple Activation Lock/Find My, Google Factory Reset Protection, another prior-owner account lock, mobile-device management (MDM), or enterprise enrollment that prevents ordinary buyer setup. Seller must sign out/remove the prior account, disable Find My/FRP/MDM, erase the device, and reach the initial setup screen before listing. “Locked” devices are not eligible merely because the lock is disclosed. Carrier/SIM locks may be listed only if lawfully owned and prominently disclosed with the carrier and known restrictions.
- Stolen-device check: Before a phone listing is published, require seller attestation of lawful ownership and a documented IMEI/serial status check against a reputable lost/stolen-device source or provider selected by Vendiaro. A positive, inconclusive, or unavailable check blocks publication pending human review. Never display a full IMEI/serial publicly. Store only the minimum verification outcome, time, source, and restricted evidence needed for fraud handling; define deletion/access controls and privacy notice. A clean check is not a guarantee of title or future status.
- Counterfeit / authenticity: Counterfeit devices, accessories, batteries, chargers, branded packaging, and parts are prohibited even if called “replica,” “look-alike,” or “for parts.” Seller must be authorized to use logos and supply evidence of authenticity when requested. Suspected fakes are paused promptly for human review; confirmed counterfeits are removed and may lead to account action and rights-holder/law-enforcement referral. AI image/text screening is only triage and is not authentication.
- Condition and functionality: Require actual-item photos. Distinguish New, Manufacturer-refurbished, Seller-refurbished, Used—working, and For parts/Not working. “For parts/Not working” must identify each known function that fails, intermittent faults, missing parts, liquid/impact damage, repair history, and whether it powers on; it cannot be used to conceal stolen/counterfeit/locked status. Define standard tests for power, display/touch, cameras, audio, ports, wireless, biometrics, battery, storage, and reset status. Do not use “refurbished” unless the party and work scope are identified.
- Battery facts: State battery health only when the device provides a reliable reading or an identified test; include method/date and do not imply a Vendiaro test unless it happened. Disclose swelling, overheating, leakage, recall, or damage; devices with damaged/defective batteries are prohibited from shipment and should be blocked from sale pending safety guidance.
- Software: State operating-system/software version as observed, check date, and whether updates or support are available if known. Do not promise future vendor support or security updates absent a substantiated source.
Shipping lithium batteries
The seller must check current USPS Publication 52, the selected service's eligibility, applicable DOT/PHMSA rules, packaging/marking, quantity, watt-hour limits, and domestic/international restrictions immediately before tender. Rules vary by battery type, whether installed or packed with the equipment, condition, and service. Used electronic devices with lithium batteries may have surface-only and special marking requirements; damaged/defective devices are subject to stricter limits and must not be placed into ordinary postage. Vendiaro's label feature must not offer a service that the item cannot lawfully use. A “battery included” checkbox is not a compliance determination.
Recalled products and repair parts
Do not list a recalled item unless a lawful approved remedy has made that particular item eligible for resale and the remedy is accurately documented. Check CPSC recall databases and manufacturer notices for applicable products. Parts must be genuine or accurately described as aftermarket; safety-critical parts and chargers must meet applicable rules and must never be misrepresented as OEM.
Escalation and evidence handling
Listings should ask for serial/IMEI privately using a protected verification flow—not chat or public text. Restrict access, encrypt transport/storage, log staff access, and define deletion periods. Until this workflow and vendor are implemented and tested, phone listings requiring an IMEI check must remain unavailable; do not simulate a successful check.
